11 Years and Counting....

I can't believe that it has been 11 years since Eric and I got married! In some ways it feels like it was only a few years ago, but then it also feels like we have known each other forever.

I have had fun scanning pictures from our wedding to add to this blog. It has brought back some memories of that day and all that led up to it. Let me give you the "Cliff Notes" version...

Eric was married before, so we had to get permission from the First Presidency for him to be Sealed again, to me. We filled out all the paper work with the Bishop and sent it off to Salt Lake. While we were waiting, I was planning Wedding "A" (if we got permission) and Wedding "B" (if we didn't). There was a huge calander on the wall in my parents living room with yellow post-its all over it so we knew what was done, what needed to be done, and when it needed to be done by, etc. One day at church, the Bishop came and pulled Eric out of Sunday School.......a little odd.......but Eric said everything was fine. LIAR!!! After class was over.......he told me that the Bishop had just found all of our paperwork in his desk! It had not been mailed. It was now only a few weeks until the Big Day!
Yada, Yada, Yada.......2 days before the wedding, we find out that the First Presidancy wants us to wait 1 year before getting sealed. We frantically start setting up Plan "B"!! So we call the Bishop and tell him that he is the lucky one to marry us, except he has a huge meeting down in LA that day!! OK.......next idea...call the Stake President........he will be out of town for a funeral! OK........wait! My Uncle, who is coming to the wedding, is a Bishop....AWESOME....HE can marry us! But wait........he would have to get permission from the First Presidancy to perform a marriage outside of his own ward (where have I heard this before?) and it is Friday night, everyone in SLC has gone home for the weekend!!!! SO, we call our Bishop back and tell him that he is the ONLY one who can do it, so we will just have to "wait around" until he can get there. It doesn't matter, right? As long as we just get married. He ended up leaving his meeting early, getting to the church on time, and the rest is history!!! My parents suprised us with a limo and hotel room, Eric's best man hid our car at the hotel (so we couldn't leave before the limo arrived), my bag was left at the church, Eric's suitcase was in the trunk of the car that was hidden at his parents house, Aunt LaDawn and my dad short-sheeted our bed in the hotel room, and we had a great honeymoon!! (And, yes, that was the Cliff Notes version!!)

It's amazing to think of all that has happened in the last 11 years. We have lived in Utah and California, Eric has attended Weber State University, Antelope Valley College, and is preparing to graduate from Los Angeles Chiropractic College. We have moved from Lancaster, California to Utah, and then back to Lancaster, then to Whittier, and we are currently packing to move back to Utah! We have adopted 2 cats, and have 2 kids! I wonder what the next 11 years holds for us.

Unfortunatly, Eric is taking National Boards this weekend (Friday - Sunday) so there is no celebrating today. The good thing is that our Sealing Anniversary is on the 19th, so we usually celebrate the whole week long anyway!

Thanks for checking in on us! Love to all!
